We moved in May...it's now August and I'm just getting around to talking about it. Let's be honest...it wasn't the easiest move on me. Yes, we moved into a house and that is nice in it's own right, but I had a baby who wasn't even a month old and a 20 month old who was exhausted and adjusting to having a baby in the house, we spent about 3 weeks getting the house ready beforehand, packing was not an organized production (hard for me), and I was dealing with a lot of change.
The house isn't actually ours. We are renting from Nathan's brother. We don't know how long we are going to be here and a house didn't make sense. David wanted to buy and he is here more permanently but it's just him. It's smaller than our apartment and that has proven to be it's own challenge. We have lots of storage space which is a blessing but it's hard to fit everything I don't want in storage in the small space.
We were blessed to have family here helping during the transition. There is no way we could have done it all without them.
The closing date was May 10th and after that was three weeks of hard work. This included lots of cleaning, painting, yard work, and more!
Here are some before pictures and picture of the process:
Can you tell why the kitchen didn't get done? Haha...there had to be a place to put everything!
Here are some of the after pictures. A lot of other things were still done after these pictures though and pictures have still not been taken of the kitchen after it has been finished painting.
After we moved in we continued working by cleaning and painting the kitchen which there wasn't time to finish, redoing all the flower beds, moving and installing fence, tilling a spot for the garden, planting a garden, and more, of course.
We are now feeling a little more settled but still very cluttered. I feel like it's been a slow process and I haven't done much for a few weeks because I just haven't had the creative energy or desire. That and I am secretly hoping that one of the jobs Nathan has been applying for will come through and we will be moving back West.
Either way it's been really nice not having to worry about being in an apartment and dealing with the problems we dealt with before. I love having the opportunity to work outside in the garden and flower beds as well as the space that is available for Kamden to play outside without worry. I love living in a house!
