Shortly after we moved into the house we rushed to get a garden in and crossed our fingers it would grow since we didn't plant it until June and it was already wicked hot!
A rototiller was rented and fortunately Nathan survived to tell the story. The blades were so dull that they weren't cutting through the ground very good and then it would take off on Nathan without digging through the ground. If you know Nathan, he's not a very small guy. He's built pretty well and it takes a lot to throw that guy to the ground but there were numerous times that beastly rototiller threw my husband to the ground almost cutting off limbs. He made me go inside so that I didn't freak out every time it happened.
Seeds were bought.
Rows were made.
Seeds were planted and watered.
A water fight ensued.
Weeds were pulled.
And, we grew a garden!
It wasn't perfect, but, we are still pretty proud of it.
It was too hot for the peas to thrive and we only got one pepper plant to come through. Our tomatoes and cucumbers got blight because of the time we had rain for a whole week but we spent a lot of time and I am proud to say that everything we planted grew something!
Our corn, melons, lettuce, and carrots are still doing great. We are still getting some peas, cucumbers, and tomatoes as well, they just aren't as abundant. It's so nice to make a fresh salad with things completely from our garden and serve up fresh corn with dinner. I can't wait to do another garden next year!
Good Job On Your Garden, Next Year You Guys Will Be Pros. I Wish I Had Space For A Good Garden. Hopefully You Will Have Enough To Can A Little.
